Resumes
Some Do's & Don'ts of Resume Writing
- Put your employment in chronological order, most recent experience first
- List your major responsibilities in each role
- Include details of computer packages/software that you have used
- Ensure that your dates match up and there are gaps in your resume
- List appropriate education and certificates to the role you are applying for
- Keep your resume to a maximum of 4 pages
- Make sure your contact details, including email are all current and to date
- Get a friend or family member to proof read your resume before sending it, as spelling and grammar are one of the worst problems people have on a resume
- Don't put a picture of yourself, unless you are applying for a modeling or acting job where a picture is required
Should You Always Write Your Own Résumé ?
Realising you need the assistance of a professional résumé writer to compile your résumé documents is not to admit you are incapable of putting together a solid presentation, or of writing clear correspondence. It is simply realising we all struggle when it comes to writing down our own strengths and achievements even in a most basic format, let alone in a professional, attention grabbing and relevant format.
